About Lost in The Woods

A man with a baseball cap, sunglasses, and a T-shirt working on a woodworking project in a workshop.

Lost in The Woods has been a dream of mine for many years. I have always enjoyed being crafty and building things with my hands that could be useful in my daily life. I’ve been working with wood since my grandfather first showed me how to take the time to shave a thin curl of pine from a block in his makeshift workshop in Penn Yann NY, turning it into something useful and fun to have - a quiet lesson that turned into a lifelong passion that still shapes how I approach every project. By day I serve my community as a full-time paramedic, and woodworking became my way to balance the intensity and unpredictability of that work with hands-on creativity, focused calm, and a chance to make something tangible.

Another reason why I created Lost in The Woods, stems from the growing amount of research regarding the tiny plastic particles that can leach from cookware and end up in our food. That’s why I locally source hardwoods from the Western and Central New York areas as well as other small businesses and design and build custom kitchen pieces and utensils from these beautiful hardwoods as a practical and natural alternative to mass-produced options.

I design and craft each product with a focus on artistic integrity and long-term value. Every piece begins with a clear aesthetic vision: I study form, balance, and texture to ensure the design stands on its own as an object of lasting beauty rather than a fleeting trend. My pieces aim to combine durability, food safety, and simple, timeless design so families can enjoy tools that are both useful and genuinely made to last for generations.

Construction methods emphasize durability and repairability. I use time-tested joinery, reinforced seams, and hardware rated for extended use. Components are modular when feasible so individual parts can be replaced or restored rather than discarding the entire item. Clear assembly and care instructions accompany each product to help owners maintain and enjoy them for years.

Together, these choices—thoughtful design, durable materials, skilled construction, restrained finishing, practical testing, and clear storytelling—create products that are both artistically meaningful and built to last.

I hope you can enjoy these beautiful Hand Crafted hardwood products in your daily life as much as I have a blast bringing them to life them for you!
